Tom is a fully qualified Level 3 Accredited+ Coach. Being a Level 3 Accredited+ coach he is qualified to work with players from beginner to club level individually and in group lesson.

Tom works at the club in a full time role and is involved in leading LTA Youth, LTA Youth Start and Adult Coaching sessions at Backwell Tennis Club. He also is involved in the schools outreach programme delivering lunchtime/after school clubs in the local schools.

Tom has a strong playing background and represents Backwell Tennis Club in the local leagues. He completed all of his coaching badges working alongside Ben.

Sam is a LTA Level 3 Accredited coach. He has over 10 years of coaching experience, having coached in a variety of areas including the USA, London and locally, including David Lloyd Long Ashton. Sam first found his affinity for coaching whilst still competing and has never looked back. Sam has experience of working with national and county level players and also enjoys coaching at all levels as well as the grass routes level. 

Sam has had the privilege of playing and competing in the USA as a D2 player and he is passionate about using his experiences to help all ages and abilities with their game and confidence on court. 

He is currently leading a community tennis programme in Weston Super-Mare and completing a Masters in Sport & Exercise Psychology at UWE. He has a number of interests in developing extra resources and materials to support players of all ages and level. 

He joined the matchpointtennis coaching team part time in May 2024 and has now moved into a full time role 25+ hours a week at the club.

Andy is a LTA Level 3 Accredited Coach. Having come through the clubs coaching programme and mentoring programme, Andy completed his Sports Degree at Exeter University.

Andy came back to coaching completing his level 3 in December 2023. Andy coaches across a few venues, but delivers groups and individual lessons at Backwell Tennis Club three days a week and is also available for individual lessons.

He has expertise in cardio and strength and conditioning to go along with his Level 3 coaching badge

Now an LTA Level 2 Accredited coach, Katie became one of the youngest girls to pass the new LTA Level 2 badge at just 17. Having played at Backwell from the age of 4, she has become a regular in ladies league teams and plays to a strong standard. 

Katie specialises in the Mini Red and Orange groups, as well as supporting the schools programme and adult classes.

She joined the team full-time in September 2025 and her friendly and inclusive attitude on court makes her popular not just with with our younger players but all members of the tennis club.

Nikita is a LTA Level 2 Accredited coach. In his final year of A-levels, Nikita has just passed his LTA level 2 badge at the age of 17.

Having come through the coaching at Backwell with Ben and Tom, Nikita now plays for the men's teams at Backwell Tennis Club.

He specialises in the Tots tennis Red, Orange & Green groups, as well as supporting the schools programme and adult classes.

Dan has played at Backwell Tennis Club over the last 15 years both socially and competitively. Supporting Ben with coaching, particularly in sessions his children attended for coaching.

With his children now grown-up, Dan has stayed on as a fully accredited LTA Level 2 coach. He assists mostly with adult coaching but lends a hand where needed across the program.

His energy and support on court is appreciated by both the coaching team and those in coaching.
